My research in the Bowers group focuses on elucidating how peptides aggregate to form amyloid fibrils. Amyloid fibrils are indicative of a number of diseases, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease as well as Diabetes Type 2. My research focuses on the structure and reactions of the soluble early aggregation states. The techniques I apply to this end include mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry, as well as molecular dynamics simulations.

Previous work involved quantum mechanical modeling of transition metal complexes, chalcogen-chalcogen interactions, as well as the gas-phase chemistry of protonated peptides.
